Next time you crave something, stop and ask yourself: Is it real hunger or is it emotional hunger?? If you haven't eaten in 3 or 4 hours, it's probably hunger, but if you are stressed, upset, even happy about something--it's probably emotional hunger.

When I'm not sure if my hunger is real hunger or 'mouth hunger', I pop a strong mint (like Altoids™), in my mouth. If it isn't real hunger, I don't really want to put anything else in my mouth after a strong taste like that.
A genuine beleif you are hungry in the middle of the night
I have always woken up with a huge sense of hunger and eaten in good faith, I needed to eat before I could get sleep. Secret: Instead of eating, try going to sleep. I did this and I woke up hunger free. Was not real hunger.
I used to eat in the middle of the night, believing I needed to eat to get back to sleep. Recently, I learned it is your brain signal for sleep turns into a signal to eat. Recently I woke up hungry & just went to back to sleep. To my surprise when I woke I was no longer starving.
