At the risk of sounding disgusting: I'm a late-night exerciser, and it's been common for me to come home after working out and just towel off without showering, and then go to bed. (I'm single, I live alone...who'd know?) However, in this summer heat, I realized that it feels so delicious to come home after exercise and jump in a cool shower! It's like hitting the swimming pool! So now that's one of my rewards after the gym - very motivating! (And much more hygienic.)
(My gym doesn't have a locker room or shower -- that might be relevant in this scenario. I go to Snap Fitness.)

After a good workout, I take a cool to luke-warm shower. About 10-20 seconds before I am done showering, I turn the water down as cold as I can stand it. It is refreshing, brings my heart rate down, and really cools me off. Plus, during my early morning exercise routine, if I'm still not fully awake, it helps me get there. 30
*NOTE* If you have high blood pressure or a heart condition, it may not be wise to take a cold shower after exercise. Cold water constricts blood vessels which can cause blood pressure to rise quickly.
You've paid for the hot water, shampoo, soap and towels in your monthly gym fee. Take your shower shoes with you and use that shower! Why pay for hot water and shampoo at home? You're paying for it twice!
