It's how I make sure I always have fresh fruits and vegetables ready to use when I need them.
When I return from the store with fresh produce, I immediately draw a dishpan of lukewarm water with a tiny bit of dish soap in it. I trim off stems or brown spots, then I wash and rinse the produce, then dry in the drainer.
Then I wrap the items in a clean tea towel, place in a zipper bag and pop in the fridge.
They stay fresh for over a week!
I learned this way of handling produce from my mom, who also put dampened clothes in the fridge in a bag to prepare them for ironing. It works well, but who irons anymore?

Eating fresh usually means a bit of veggie prep. I find that doing all the prep in the morning/afternoon and putting it in a bowl w/ a lid saves me tons of time in the evening. I marinade my proteins then too. In the fridge w/ it, & when I get home from work late in the evening dinner is a snap!
As soon as I get home from the grocery store I go ahead and prep my veggies for snacking.
I wash the fruits & veggies, cut them if necessary and store them properly for freshness. Then when I'm craving a snack I have everything already clean and ready to go! This makes healthy snacking convenient. Sometimes I just need a snack- quick! This does the trick!
It's true. The times I take to prep all my veggies after I get home from the store & before they get put away, the more I am apt to cook with them or snack from them because it takes less time when I want to cook or eat. Takes just a bit of time at first but pays off BIG later....104
Every veggie possible to prep is ready for a meal, cooked or not...snacks, sandwiches, salads, soups and new recipes!
