Every month dig through your sock box- cut open the ones that don't have a match, or that are too worn to wear- our household use- cleaning! I don't feel as guilty throwing it away if I get it too soiled. We also was and reuse for cleaning until they just fall apart.

Using old socks for dusting seems to be a general tip use it all the time. & use them as potholders after washing!!!!!!!!!I believe in recycle, reduce & reuse so helps there as well
Get an old tube sock. Fill a good portion of the sock with rice. Tie off the end of the sock. Heat the rice filled sock for about 45 second the first time. As it gets colder heat it up for about 30 seconds until desired temp. It makes a good little heating pad. NOTE heated to much will burn the rice
I found a way that works for me in retrieving LOST socks! I keep the ONE lost sock in a bag marked" LOST SOCKS" in the laundry room. Then as I am sorting through the dryer for socks, I usually find the missing one! Before I used to just discard them or put them back in my drawer,but they'd get lost there,too! This way I KNOW where to LOCATE the lost sock!

I also find that if I buy TWO PAIRS of the same style socks,I don't have to look as often for a missing one. Helps especially with small CHILDREN'S SOCKS!
