It is a great idea. I just took a week break because of vacation. It was great but now I have lots of work to do.

    Good advice. 2 days, rest 1, 2 days, rest 1 - -

I so agree with that statement. I am in such a need for a REST DAY.

DEVERYLEJ 6/1/2012 7:27:00 PM

I inadvertently had to take a week off (yes, a whole week) but taking that week off actually broke through my plateau! I had been exercising pretty steadily and intensely and I guess being forced to take off a week was just what my body needed! If I had known I was going to receive such positive benefits, I would have enjoyed the week off instead of fretting about not being able to get to the gym!

The difference in performance with rest is amazing!
Think interval training and give your body a break!
MAZACK 6/1/2012 6:34:00 PM

A rest day is good. If you must do something take a little walk.
SLIMTONES 6/1/2012 6:08:00 PM

I totally agree. However, a rest day is not just a day of not exercising, it can be more specific than that.

You can "rest" a body area too. Work upper body today, and "rest" it tomorrow when you work lower body. Work core the next day and "rest" it by returning to upper body.

That said, one day of total rest, no exercise at all, is extremely beneficial. :)

I tend to beat myself up if I skip a day; being reminded that a day or 2 off is a good thing. Even God rested..
NANA2ANGELS 6/1/2012 5:27:00 AM

It is difficult to take a rest day when you are always on the go, but I try to at least take a couple hours rest or find something to do that is non exertional, like sewing to rest myself
