Living alone, when I cook I usually have prepared way more than I can/should eat at one time. Instead of storing the leftovers in one big storage container, it is helpful for me to spoon out correct portions into smaller containers so I can just grab them and go in the morning, and then not have to worry about portion control at lunch!

Keep something healthy and convenient at the front of your fridge so you can grab it quickly when you need something NOW. Whether you pre-package your own portions or use grocery store convenience foods like carrot snack packs, it will make a huge difference in what you eat if it's something easy for you to grab.
You can pre-portion salad into bowls, pre-cut vegetables for snacking, and pre-portion nuts so you don't overdo it.
Have started preparing brown-bag lunches for the next day right after dinner the night before...so its set in stone what I will eat. At breakfast the next morning, I log what I am eating and I "Pre-log" my lunch...it helps me stick to it.
After dinner (and preparing tomorrow's lunch), I log dinner and "Pre-log" an evening snack.
I do not know whether it is just the benefit of pre-planning or the guilt of cheating on myself....this works for me.
Eating sugar snap peas instead of chips or other high carb snacks has helped me stay on track to healthy eating. Using a scale and portion control has taught me to serve healthy portions not just serve.
using 1 cup containers to pack for lunch is key to portion control for lunch too.
