When I've hit a plateau -- I take a FREE day. I only eat three evenly spaced meals -- but I eat what I really want.
Yes, it can go over calories, carbs, fat... but it serves as a wake-up call to your body. It shakes things up.

More Information:

Generally, after my "free" day, I can really get in the groove the enxt day with proper foods and exercise and my bidy responds by burning more fuel.

  • One of my struggles with dieting is sometimes obsessing and feeling like I should never "screw up". I never thought of making it a part of my program so that it doesn't feel like cheating. I love this idea! Thank you emoticon - by NIKKI13074
  • I actually have one day during the week which is my "cheat day" and it works for me. I was stuck for awhile but I think giving my body a day like that helps me continue to gain results from my efforts the rest of the week. I usually have mexican food and chocolate peanut butter ice cream on Friday nights with no work out and a new netflix movie emoticon - by SARACOIL

  • I saw an article recently -- on Sparkpeople or somewhere else, and it was written by a successful weight happy and stable person who allows 2 days a month of "free days", figuring that in the course of any month, there will be a couple of events that crop up and involve foody focus (birthday, holiday, date...and such). Sounded like a good plan for maintenance with rest of the month making sure to eat healthy. - by CAPE2ISLAND
  • Love this!! - by WGLADDEN
  • Yes, I have heard this can shock your system and change things up. I have a cookie night at least once a week or so because I love baking and eating cookie dough..I'll admit it. I usually eat at least half a dozen fresh baked cookies on cookie night and I'm not ashamed to admit it!!! - by ELISAJANE57
