Secrets of Success

Have A Plan For Gifts And Unexpected Events

At the end of each year, Hubby and I make a list of who we will buy for regarding birthdays, Christmas, anniversaries, Mother's Day, Father's Day, weddings, showers etc and allot a certain amount that we want to spend. We total that up and then divide it by 23 payments (to coincide with our paydays) Then each pay we put away the amount and when it comes time to buy presents we already have the money set aside. It makes shopping at Christmas so much more manageable!

I do this for everything that is not a monthly expense ---car, home, & life insurance, property taxes, estimated income taxes. (Every-other year, I add the estimated cost of new eyeglasses for both of us.) Then I make sure I put away enough money every month so that when the bills come due, payments are painless. Actually, I put away more than the total for the previous year ---the payments go up a little every year. and I like having more than I know I will need for unexpected expenses. - by STORMY724
