Neighborhood Walking - Incorporate Storm Drains As Steps!
We have a 3 mile route in our neighborhood and every time we get to a storm/sewer drain, I use them to do steps. It breaks up the walking and gets my heart rate up. With 29 drains on the route and 20 steps on each leg, that's 1160 on top of a 3 mile walk! Pace yourself, I started at 5 steps each!
Doing different steps really gives you a great workout. My husband doesn't need to loose the weight, so he feels great being my "trainer" counting steps, making sure I don't miss a drain, & holding onto him for stability. Plus, it gives him breaks where he can stretch his back out--a win-win! :)
