If you have trouble getting to sleep at night, try a Cinnamon-Milk Toddy!
1 cup Milk (I use Soymilk) 1 teaspoon Cinnamon-Sugar mix 1 - 2 dashes extra Cinnamon (optional, but I prefer it)
Place all ingredients in a cup or mug, microwave for 35 seconds, just enough to warm it up. Drink it down before it cools. In other words, don't sip it.
The heated milk releases the chemical melatonin which is what helps us fall asleep. The cinnamon adds flavor and keeps the stomach settled, especially if you happen to have acid reflux or indigestion, which will make you uncomfortable and keep you from falling asleep. I sleep GREAT when I have this.

I find that eating porridge in the morning or indeed, anytime helps keep me full for longer. If I eat cereals, I am ravenous by mid morning and want to eat the cakes and biscuits in the staffroom. I find that having porridge makes it easier to skip the high calorie goodies!
I make porridge using oats and milk, with raisins. You could add cardamom pods or cinnamon and other dried fruit - prunes are nice with it too. The milk gives calcium, which I find helpful as I don't drink milk. Porridge can also be made with water and a little salt to taste. Try it!
I am one of those people who needs something more concrete than a number on a scale to get excited about. So I remind myself that every 8 pounds I lose is equal to a gallon of milk. Now, knowing how bulky and heavy a gallon of milk is, makes an 8 pound loss feel much more substantial and more emotionally satisfying that just a small movement on a scale. Small losses are significant, when you think about them in concrete terms.
2 pounds = 1 quart of milk 4 pounds = 1/2 gallon of milk 8 pounds = 1 gallon of milk 20 pounds = 1 very large turkey
