Walk 3 Miles Per Day Without Even Noticing It.

I park 3/4 mile from my work so I get a 1.5 mile walk in every day. I also leave work for lunch most days, so I get another 1.5 mile round trip on those days. I base the distance on the weather, so on sweltering hot days or frigid cold days I park closer.

It's a good distance for me, but not long enough to sweat too much. At the end of the day I have gotten some great exercise in, but never get the "I don't feel like exercising today" feeling anymore.

Used Google Maps to find some good places to park near your work.. some different spots to change it up a bit.

I think this "exercise" works for me because I am tricking myself into believing it isn't exercise at all. It's just how I get to work now. My mind is so gullible. Whatever works, right?

    Beautiful implementation. Did something similar while I was in Japan. Wish I could enact something similar but haven't figured out how.

    This is why when I go to places like the mall or to walmart or such, I park at the very back of the parking lot. The steps really do add up. So on days that I have a lot of errands to run, I get quite a bit of walking it. It doesn't really take that much longer to just park in the back and walk than it does to drive around the parking lot looking for a closer spot!!! Great info! And thanks for sharing!! :)

    I walk a good ways from the parking lot at work to the front door as well, and then I'm constantly walking back and forth, along with bending and stooping anywhere from 4 to 7 hours a day, so by the time I do this 4 to 5 days a week, and then walk back to the parking lot, I've done plenty of exercise. emoticon

    I walk to and from work every day. Depending upon the weather, I take longer or shorter routes depending upon the weather.

    the main store I and my husband go to is Walmart here in my home town, and when I go there I do a full loop around from the exit through the health and auto and over to the food or groceriesand back to exit and out. so I can get extra steps and miles in for the day.

    Good on you! There are lots of ways to get that extra bit of exercise in. I walk to Curves rather than drive when weather permits. And I find I can rack up a few extra steps walking around the supermarket.
