If You Know You Eat When Your'E Bored, Eat Tactile Foods.

This is certainly not a new idea, but it's on my mind tonight: If you know you eat out of boredom, get yourself foods to snack on that are "stimulating" to the senses in some way. For example, baby carrots are adorable to look at and make that wonderful crunch when you chew them. Pistachios have those shells that are so satisfying to snap apart. Use the sensory elements of food to satisfy boredom instead of just the flavor alone.

Other healthy but sense-stimulating snacks:
wasabi peas!
trail mix
rice cakes (I LOVE those quirky, puffy circles! I always play the game of "can I eat the rice cake without it falling apart at all?")

OMG I am the same way, but aren't pistachios really high in fat and calories? I do it with popcorn and I've done it with edamame before too. I really wish I could cure myself of this "eating when you're bored" thing, but eating an entire bag of popcorn when you're bored is better than an entire bag of cookies.
