My friend that has a chicken coupe let me in on a secret... You can freeze eggs! I had no idea that you could do this, and it would definitely save you money if you don't use eggs that frequently!

just a thought..... if you are going to freeze eggs ...first do not leave them in the shell! Second if you want to freeze the whole egg first gently stir the yolk and white together. Third an ice cube tray is great for eggs or just white after freezing throw in a freezer bag ...yolks frozen by them self turn a little rubbery ...eggs frozen are probably best if used for baking at least thats all we ever used them for

does the shell crack ? Do you let them thaw out before fixing them ? We have chickens but don't get many eggs in the winter ! Thank you for this tip !

I've had eggs freeze accidently and they did not look right when they thawed, so I threw them away. Does freezing effect the taste or the way they cook at all? Can you use them for anything (like omelets) or are they better for cooking with (like cakes)? How long will they keep?

Yes. She said that she freezes them either in the shell or you can crack them into plastic baggies. I'd prefer the shell..

And how would we go about freezing eggs? In the shell?

Healthy egg nog?
I love egg nog! Unfortunately it is full of fat and calories for 4 oz.. I indulge by freezing my egg nog in an ice cube tray. Each cube is one oz? I then pour myself a 6-8 oz. Cup of milk and add two egg nog cubes. That way I can have the taste of the nog (while it's melting) without all of the fat. I can also make my nog last longer.
