I've used the software 'Living Cookbook' for years to help prepare my menus for the week. Now, I use it to track my calories, sodium, and nutrients.
I got it free, online, for a 30 day trial. But then, it worked so well for all phases (grocery list making, menu planning, inventory, etc, recipes) of food that I decided to purchase my own copy.

Where I work we had a "healthy carry-in". We requested that everyone prepare a healthy meal and provide a recipe card. We then made a cookbook and passed out to all who participated. Many of the recipes could have been healthier, but having the cookbook allowed for some substitutions to be made. It was a great way to try out new foods!
I spent the money for a recipe program for my computer and save recipes I find in magazines, books, online, etc.. We can only recall and save so many recipes from the many places we see them. This way, recipes I find which are healthy and look good are at my fingertips. This program actually allows me to copy a recipe and "captures" it to avoid a lengthy process of transcribing it over.
I bought Living Cookbook 2011 online for $35.00 and do like it.
