Get a dollar store white-board w/magnet & marker to stick to outside of freezer. Keep a list on what you have. How often have you over-bought or thrown out food bc you don't use or know what's in there? This has saved me time and money. Also, mark down when you froze it or for pre-packaged goods, their expiration date, esp. if stuff tends to hang around in your freezer. Works for the frig, too! I also keep a grocery lister on there, to write down what I use up or need.

I list the contents of my freezer and post the list on the fridge door. Helps me in meal planning to use what I've already bought - I waste less food this way and save money. I tend to be an out-of-sight-out-of-mind person so seeing a list helps me not 'lose' stuff in the freezer!
I make a menu for the upcoming week. Take inventory of pantry, freezer, etc., add any ingredient needed to itemized list. I usually shop at one store,so I have grocery list divided by isle, and note on list if I have a coupon. I stay exclusively to my list unless the store is offering specials.
I buy milk in gallons, then freeze. You have to pour a bit off the top so the containers don't burst, but just use a pitcher. When I am going to need a new milk, I just take out of freezer, put in fridge, it will thaw in a day or two. Use as usually would.
