Sign up with the grocerygame.com. I save 50% and more using the coupons in the Sunday paper. I buy 2 papers on Sunday to double my coupon savings. You get name brand merchandise as cheap or cheaper than store brands. I take the amount saved and put it in a savings account for a rainy day.
Every week I see the store savings and coupon savings on my grocery receipt and it's all lies. I didn't save anything. I just didn't spend it -- yet. So, after giving this issue some thought I decided that I would take this as a requirement for saving and transfer it to my savings account.
As soon as I get home from the store I transfer the amount of store/coupon savings from my checking account to my savings account. Then I've actually saved money. So don't be fooled that not having spent it is a savings!
Whenever we go out to eat or I want to go to the store I'll sign up for their emails and I almost always get great coupon savings! I have gotten numerous buy 1 get 1 entree coupons for restaurants and stores usually email me % off coupons.
