Sounds gross, but make sure toenails are SHORT before exercising. I learned my lesson after a day of skiing I now have to go to the podiatrist and have them stick a needle in my toe. I haven't been able to workout hard in over a week and I might lose my toenail, just in time for summer.

Yeast Infections and fungus...no Sugar or anything white
A yeast-like fungus called Candida albicans is responsible for many of the fungal infections affecting people with diabetes. Before becoming pre-diabetic I became allegic to penicillian and got a systemic yeast infection, toenail fungus and had 3 toenails removed. Yeast feeds on sugar.
Itching skin can be caused by yeast infection, dry skin or poor blood flow. Keep your blood glucose level within the range recommended by your doctor and don't eat sugar.
By having small goals along the way you keep yourself motivated and inspired and that final goal doesn't seem that far away after all
If my run isn't going so well I will change my route so I'm making more turns or direction changes. That way I'm not discouraged by distance. I run "just to the corner" then "just to what ever landmark" I see. Soon enough my run is done and I did the full time I set out to do.
