Managing my weight on vacations is a major challenge for me. So I make goals to fit my personal expectations. I decide in advance how much weight I am okay with gaining and how much exercise I will get in. This keeps me in integrity with myself and keeps things real for me. Then I follow the plan!
While vacationing I walk 10 extra minutes @ day no matter what, I get healthy snacks (nuts, fruits) to have with me. I avoid all-u-can-eat buffets. I carry my water bottle with me. This plan prepares me to deal with vacation feeding frenzy & I return maybe 2-3 lbs happier, guiltfree and on track.
Use SparkPeople everyday to keep track of your progress. Even if I eat something I shouldn't, I still track it. It keeps it real for me. Then, I know how much to work out extra to make up for that little indiscretion.
