did you know you could use plain vinegar rather than fabric softener & save tons? your clothes don't smell like vinegar when done either. Just use in your fabric softener dispenser or Downey ball. Also if you place a couple of crumpled up balls of aluminum foil in your dryer with your load of clothes you remove the static cling- basic science & it really works! emoticon

It seems to me that foil may snag sweaters and such. We have used new tennis balls in the dryer. This is even used at several of the laundromats in our area.

I've been doing this for years, but I'm not organized enough to wait around for the rinse cycle or to use the 'ball'. I wash everything in cold water and use environmental detergent for cold water; however, I also throw in about 1/2 cup of baking soda or washing soda, whichever I have on hand and about 1/2 cup of white vinegar. This all goes into the wash cycle. Frequently, I let stuff soak for an hour or so, but this doesn't seem to matter. Anyway, I have no problem with static cling or softness and my wash smells wonderful, especially if I've used 'washing' soda.

Vinegar and Baking Soda will clean just about anything. I haven't tried the tin foil in the dryer thing, but I'm trying to cut down on tin foil. I will try it with the next load of sweaters I wash!

I am absolutely going to have to try this! Vinegar is so great for all sorts of cleaning stuff. Awesome!
