You Do Not Need To Count Calories In Chewing Gum.

This tidbit may be minimal, however, so long as you chew gum (mostly the SF 5 calorie stuff) for 30 minutes, its not necessary to track it.

Believe it or not, you can actually burn some extra calories by chewing gum. "Besides being good for your breath--especially if you eat a lot of protein--researchers at the Mayo Clinic have found that chewing gum will burn an additional 11 calories per hour," says Dan Benardot, Ph.D., R.D., author of Nutrition for Serious Athletes.

I'm only posting this because gum is such a great way to curb sweet tooth urges, yet so many people feel the need to track every last detail, when in fact, chewing gum burns more calories than you consume. CHOMP AWAY I SAY

I chew a lot of gum also.

So I am thinking that a half hour of chewing cancels out the calorie value of the gum? And if we chew a piece for 15 minutes, we can log two pieces of gum as one?

Please advise, this is pretty important to me, gum is my safety valve so to speak.

Awesome I chew a lot of gum in a day! and adding 3-5 calories for every piece was something I was ignoring!
