To make sure I was only eating one portion of food, I began serving plates of food rather than putting containers on the table. That way, seconds became an effort to get. It's helped others in my family too!

I don't taste until I track! I put this rule in place for myself because skipping once is a slippery slope. And by making sure my food is logged before I indulge, I can see how much my choice will "cost" me and make a last minute change if necessary!
I've ditched food at the last minute that should have never made it to my plate because I tracked it first :)
When I began watching my weight and trying to keep my portion control in check I changed from a large dinner plate to a medium sized plate to eat of. It makes it look like I have a lot of food on my plate but it's just the medium plate full instead of the large one. This makes it easy to watch my portion sizes.
