I find I always want a dessert after lunch and dinner but everything is way too high in calories. I found I can have a "one bite" size piece of candy such as Milky Way or Snickers and satisfy the urge. Two pieces are less than 100 calories and I don't eat everything in site trying to satisify my urge.

Tried and true trick is have a tootsie pop (any flavor) when you crave something sweet. They are only 60 calories, are impossible to eat quickly, and usually your tongue is a little sore after even one so that makes it even less likely to have more than one.

I always want "dessert", so I keep a stash of various bite-sized mini candy on hand, too! Most are around 30-50 calories, which isn't going to wreck my day at all. And plain m&m's have only about 4 calories each!
