Set up mini goals to go along with your overall goal for weight loss. Say you have 100 pounds to lose. Set a mini goal of 20-25 and once you hit that, reward yourself. Do something you love to do, buy yourself something nice, etc. But try to stay away from rewarding yourself with a food. It helps keep out the extra calories you would gain.. and you end up happy anyways. :)

I set mini goals for myself because my big goal of losing 50 pounds is so overwhelming. My current mini goal is to lose 10 lbs before my future sister-in-law's bachelorette party, but I also set mini goals for each work out, for instance, run three blocks further today than I did yesterday.
Setting mini goals and deadlines based on upcoming events is motivating.
