If you are going out to dinner... either pick the restaurant based on what you select after going to their nutrition page on their website (a surprising number of restaurants post this!) or find out where you are going and look it up. I was shocked to find out that so many "meals" at a popular restaurant totaled 2400+ calories and 80-120 fat grams... Wow! it would be sad to check after coming home or not check at all!

Thanks to the state of California, all chain restaurants have to give nutritional info to consumers. Even if you live elsewhere (like me!!), you can generally access info at restaurant websites. Went out to Red Lobster last night, and took a look at the website before leaving home to make a couple of choices before dinner - kept me within my calories for the day!! www.dwlz.com also has nutritional info for many restaurants.
Need help searching for restaurant nutritional values? Try this!
Don't know how many calories, etc. particular dining out meals have? Try fitnesspal.com/food/search & type in the food you want to find. It will have the restaurant in paranthesis to the right of the food item. I couldn't find a particular meal on the restaurant's website & found it here (although I wish I hadn't...YIKES!)
Eating at a restaurant does not have to ruin your day! Go to the restaurant's website and look at their nutritional menu (sometimes they hide it and you have to search!) It helps you choose wisely before you before you there with an empty stomach! 48
