If you are going out to dinner... either pick the restaurant based on what you select after going to their nutrition page on their website (a surprising number of restaurants post this!) or find out where you are going and look it up. I was shocked to find out that so many "meals" at a popular restaurant totaled 2400+ calories and 80-120 fat grams... Wow! it would be sad to check after coming home or not check at all!

    I have started evaluating EVERY restaurant menu before I go to lunch, when I don't pack healthy leftovers or have a luncheon to attend. It give me time to review and decide and then when I get there I a not tempted by the unknown, I don't even have to look at the menu and can spend more time socializing. emoticon

    It really is scary how many restaurants can take seemingly "healthy" items, such as grilled chicken or spaghetti, and make it so terrible for you by adding additives such as butter, oil, dressing, etc. I always try to plan ahead by checking the nutritional menu before going. Great tip!
