Every few days I transfer the last "few dollars & change" from my checking account to my savings account. I like to keep my checking account even. So, if I have 333.50 in my checking account, I transfer $3.50 to savings. It's not so much that I miss it, but it's builds up over time in the savings account.
I get paid by direct deposit and on payday I check my account online. Looking at the balance, I transfer any money left over from the previous payday into a savings account; even if it is only $20.00. You will be surprised at how fast this can add up. my savings account is actually a tax-free account where I can stash up to $5000 without paying taxes on it. Nice! 48
We have three checking accounts with Citizen's bank for free by utilizing multiple withdraws to another bank savings account. We utilize ING Direct for a savings account. Signing up for GreenSense through Citizen's we get 10 cents per transaction that is not a check. We make about $20/month by doing what we already do! Divide withdraws or payments up into smaller amounts to get more money/month!
