I have been learning and using a 3x5 card system that was created by the Sidetracked Home Executives, sister Pam Young and Peggy Jones. It takes a bit to set it up, but now that I have been using it for a few weeks, I am learning to customize it for myself, and my apartment. In the meantime, my home is much cleaner and I am feeling much less stressed out! With the goal-setting skills I am learning here at sparkpeople.com, I am finally getting it all together!

Each pay day I take out a set amount of money for my groceries, gas, and free spending. My grocery money goes into one envelope, my gas money into another, and my free spending money into a third. Paying cash for everything has enabled me to save more money than ever before.
This system also enables me to live debt free since I am no longer making purchases on my credit card.
I made a list of the reasons why I want to lose weight and put them on 3x5 notecards. I read them every morning, at mealtimes, when I feel the urge to eat something destructful or when I need a pick me up. I keep the cards on my kitchen counter so they are always there. Here are the 1st few reasons listed on my cards: Feel better about myself, look/feel better in clothes, set good example for my kids, be healthy, avoid diabetes/heart disease, be proud of me, more energy, play soccer again.
Writing down your goals helps you realize why you are on this weight loss journey in the first place. In moments of weakness, it really does help to read the list before you put any food in your mouth. You realize that your goals will make you feel better than any piece of food can.
It can be helpful to write down, in advance, the pros & cons of giving in to a binge & ponder it daily, especially when stressed, or when feeling cravings. 195
I use a 3x5 roller index & write out Pro's & Con's on a 3x5 card, then hole punch it, & stick it into roller index & place on the bathroom counter (where I brush my teeth & wash my face mornings), as that's the best place for me to see it on a daily basis!
