Peanut butter works also. I think it's the oil in it, just like vegetable or olive oil, only it doesn't run all over. Also works for getting gum out of hair.

Also, to aid in getting price tags off items such as glass heat the sticker up with a blow dryer and the tag and glue should lift right off.

Hard water stains
It's truely amazing how well hot vinegar works at removing hard water and lime/calcium stains from coffeepots, dishes, glasses, and even plastic
Using a magic eraser to clean the tub takes a lot of the elbow work out of removing the residue. Magic Erasers are perfect for almost all household scrubbing, but I have found them particularly helpful when trying to get water spot, residue or rust stains removed from the tub/shower.
