Dress for the weather - mittens, hat, thermals, headband. Bringing a canine pal along for safety in unknown neighborhoods. GPS comes in handy so you don't get lost. A pedometer to measure your distance.

In striving for 10,000 steps a day, I walk the terminal instead of sitting at the gate and waiting for the plane to board.
Face it, planes don't leave early and there are plenty of boards listing departure gates and times to keep checking should your gate or departure time change. Besides - you'll have plenty of time to "sit" on the plane!
