    Sometimes saying no tends to lead people to "eat around" that food they are trying to avoid or crave, resulting in eating more calories than that "item" or more!
Eat a bite? Eat half? Drink a full glass of water and see if you still crave it?
Eat a healthy substitute and see if that helps that nagging craving go away.
Ask yourself WHY you want this item, hungry? craving? or emotional eating.
Do something else. :)

    Right on. I know the SparkPeople Articles insist that there are "no bad foods," but I personally find refined sugar to be a very bad food and don't feel I miss anything by avoiding it as much as possible. No, I have never found that avoiding sugar leads me to eat more while trying to eat around my craving. Quite the opposite, the more I give in to sugar cravings the more sugar I crave, and the more calories I consume. Just give it up and your body will feel much better without it.
