My mother use to do the same thing and I thought it was weird. But my mother also shopped at Dollar General and Family Dollar for can goods and other items and now I am doing the same thing. Maybe it was not so weird to wash baggies!

Like you, i do the same. I don't & won't purchase plastic bags, but if someone gives me ziplock bag, I'll use & reuse that bag over & over.

Reuse your ziplock bags until they can be used no more
MORE INFORMATION:
I reuse any bags that I pack snacks in for myself. While I can't count on the kids to bring them back home, Hubby and I reuse them for our snacks. Give em a quick rinse and repack them for the next day when you get home. I bought a bulk box of ziplocks 18 months ago from Costco, have tons left!!
I wash out some resealable bags and reuse them. I NEVER reuse any that contained meat or spoiled food. But if they just had bread, crackers, carrot sticks etc., I put a drop of liquid detergent and water in them, wash, rinse, and dry completely. These bags are also good for packing travel items.
Being single, I have to buy quantity to get a price break, but end up with too much fresh stuff to use right away. My favorite, Bell peppers, I wash first before cutting, then cut ALL of them up, making sure I have removed ALL the of the seeds. Then I wash them all again, thoroughly. Then I dry them carefully and put them into a ziplock freezer bag. I have been able to keep them in the fridge without spoiling for as long as two weeks!
MORE INFORMATION:
Why? Nature. The seeds in the pepper are the new life that want to grow into another pepper. So they must take nourishment from the flesh of the old pepper to grow, just like any fruit. So if you get them out of there and clean up after them the flesh won't rot right away!
