Ever baked something tasty, only to realize too late you forgot an important ingredient?
Organize all your ingedients on the counter *in the order they will be used in the recipe*. Then as you measure and add items, put the container away. If there is anything left on the counter, it's immediately apparent that you forgot it! This also helps you make sure you have all the ingredients before you start!

Great idea thanks for sharing wish I would have read this before I made my carrot and pineapple salad this morning. I didn't have enough raisins. It will be ok but not as good as normal.

Yes, I did this today while baking. The French have a culinary term for it "Mies en place" meaning everything in place. It's a great way to go! They take it one step further though, and measure all ingredients. Thanks for sharing!

My digital food scale gives me so much better accuracy. It measures in ounces or grams. The zero feature allows me to zero out my container, weigh my first ingredient, zero again, weigh the 2nd ingredient, zero again and so on until I have everything I will use in that dish. I simply write down each weight as I go. The scale also has nutritional infor on over 1000 foods. Well worth the $50 at Bed Bath and Beyond.
We put our treat in the downstairs freezer. That way they are there but easier to forget. They last longer because they are kept frozen and because they are kept out of sight.
