I tried the suggestion of Judith Beck, PhD, (The Beck Diet Solution) to serve myself the entire meal and spread it out in front of me. Seeing all the food helps me 1) feel more satisfied and 2) judge whether the portions are reasonable. In the past I've often eaten one item and then get the next item and so on. Putting it altogether helps me realize how much I am eating.
