Due to the fact that my cable bill went up $20 a month and my rent went up $10 a month, I cancelled my cable the end of January. Living on SS, I have to be very creative on how I spread out my income, I can get all the news on the radio and I don't have to sit an watch anything. I don't miss the tv at all. All that seems to be on these days is sex and nudity on most stations and i can't see paying a dollar a day for tv.
I can also get news on the internet that I get for free. It is dial up but it is better than nothing. I get more walking in and less sitting plus I have some savings for a rainy day.

About a month ago we decided we were fed up with paying a ton for cable TV when all the shows we watch are available for free on the internet (Hulu, etc.). So we canceled our cable, invested $30 in an HD antenna that picks up enough stations for live sports, and rely on Netflix for everything else.
