Secrets of Success

Cancel Your Cable Tv

Due to the fact that my cable bill went up $20 a month and my rent went up $10 a month, I cancelled my cable the end of January. Living on SS, I have to be very creative on how I spread out my income, I can get all the news on the radio and I don't have to sit an watch anything. I don't miss the tv at all. All that seems to be on these days is sex and nudity on most stations and i can't see paying a dollar a day for tv.

More Information:

I can also get news on the internet that I get for free. It is dial up but it is better than nothing. I get more walking in and less sitting plus I have some savings for a rainy day. emoticon

  • I'm on SS as well. Dumped the cable TV over a year ago. I now watch "TV" via the internet on for free. There are a ton of shows to choose from and they have limited commercials. I agree that TV is not worth a dollar or more a day. Too much junk/little quality! - by HLTHAPPINESS4C
We dumped ours years ago. Where we are, we can get channels from Spokane, Tri Cities and Portland on an outdoor antenna. I only wath 3 programs as they aren't full of swearing, sex and nudity. OPB and PBS are also good for viewing once in a while. - by ONLYTEMPORARY
