say you started your new exercise and eating right program january 1. if you were to also put aside $3 per day since january 1, by the end of the year (hence Christmas time) you will have right over $1000 to spend. don't buy that favorite coffee drink from your local stores and spending $3 (or more) per day. spare your wallet and spare yourself the added calories by NOT buying the coffee. reward yourself with new clothes, vacation, spa treatments... enjoy you!

Wow! Great idea! I have started to carry cash and watch my debit/credit card use. I thinking about it as 3 dollars a day rather than the monthly amount makes it seem reasonable and doable. Thanks!

I loved your idea, and it looks like many others did also. I am hoping to do save that much and not for Christmas, but because I deserve it.

Since the first of the year, I've saved a dollar a day for the number of the month--January, $31 (1x31), February, $56 (2x28), March $93 (3x31), and on target for April as well (at $4/day). That money goes straight against debt.
