When you're sidelined by illness or injury during your journey to health, don't fall back into old habits. You've come too far and worked too hard to throw it all away! You may not be able to exercise for a while but you can still eat 5+ fruits/veggies, drink 8+ cups of water, sleep 7+ hours per night, continue positive self dialogue, stay with your healthy eating plan and use Spark People as support. Injury & illness can really get us down, especially if we're trying to get fit or stay fit. The old concept of "working through it" can be very damaging, possibly even permanently. We need to also listen to our bodies, get things checked out by the doctor/chiropractor/ physiotherapist if injury or illness persists, & then get their ok to continue with our plans. Patience is critical!
I've been not running for about a month, now, & just started back today. A little tiny jog, feeling good,
but had to be so careful to not over do it. Will see how the rest of today goes and will likely take tomorrow off for further recovery. :-) Recovery happens best while at rest - that was a life-changing discovery for me and maybe most of us who've been taught "no pain, no gain".
Burn a few extra calories by using a black pepper grinder. You keep your hands and forearms stronger with the benefit of fresh seasoning. In fact, opt for fresh herbs whenever possible - the flavors will help you feel satisfied with fewer calories!
