That's a good idea! I like using the plastic bags for trash cans, etc. around the house.

I can't believe people still use plastic. :( Invest in a few reusable bags, they are great and eventually plastic will be outlawed everywhere as we are starting to see in cities within California.

plastic bags
We have a family of 5, so we end up with a lot of plastic bags from the grocery store. We bring them back and reuse them at the store, some stores will pay you for reusable bags (Price Chopper will credit you $.03 a bag). One trip to the store will credit me $.45, doesn't seem like a lot, but in a year, that's almost $24, and that's just for one trip a week!! We stick them in the small garbage cans (instead of buying little garbage bags). Huge savings!!

We use them instead of packing peanuts when shipping items. Why pay for something, when we have it already?? And I feel good about being able to reduce, reuse and recycle, along with the money I save.
I started using TVP, textured vegetable protein in most of my meat cooking. It looks a bit like oatmeal. Use about a 1c to 1 1/2c in a meat sauce, or a 1c + 1c water, let rehyd in lean ground meat, it has no fat but all the protein. TVP is tasteless, it takes on the favors you add, wonderful stuff.
MORE INFORMATION:
You can find TVP in most health stores and grocery stores
