If you overeat 1 day or 1 meal, put in an extra workout session. I have only done this about 5 times in the past year ---always on a holiday or at a party, but it does happen to all of us occasionally. I usually do cardio at the Y 3X/week & strength exercises at home on 3 other days. So when I overeat, I put in at least one extra cardio & an extra strength session that day or the next. I hate getting out of my normal routine, so it cures me of overeating for a while.
I ought to avoid parties. I do fine at home where almost all temptations have been eliminated & I have a scale on which I can weigh all my food, but it is at other people's homes that I have a problem.
