I did my first 5K ever a couple weeks ago and I did a lot better than I thought I would because I haven't ran more than 1.5-2miles ever! While training on my treadmill I was doing it in 45min at 4mph. So when I did it in 37 min 10 sec I was psyched! And a photo company was there and they captured the moment I crossed the finish line!!! It was such a great moment for me! On their website I was able to purchase a mug with that picture on it.
So now every morning I have my coffee and am super motivated to keep it up!!
I use a sticker system for visual help with my program. I put a red sticker on the days that I blow it. I use a yellow sticker if it was a maintence type day (200 calories above my range). A green sticker if I stayed in my calorie range. This system helps me see how I'm doing and provides feedback when the scale doesn't say what I want to hear.
It helps me stay motivated when I'm doing well and brings me to a quick about face when I'm not.
I live in the heat and to work up a sweat i run in place when the dogs are out they take there time and i get to work out at the same time and they go out a lot and sometimes they just want to run and play so i let them cause i can not go to far cause of my oxygen so i get work outs that way mild but still work outs
