I can't take credit for this one....other than passing on GREAT information. One of my sisters friends uses this trick so that she has an easier time when going out with friends and staying on track. She goes to her favorite restaurant and orders Take Out. She then goes home and measures EVERYTHING, figures out her calories and knows where she stands. This way when she goes out with friends she doesn't have to struggle with what decision is best for her.

My daughter who is 18 is probably in the obese category. I have asked her directly to take a look at SparkTeen but she refuses. What I realized is that the indirect approach seems to have more effect. I make sure to track when she is in the room. I measure my food and she notices because we are often in the kitchen together. Slowly I hope to show good habits, be available for questions and stoke that slow burning fire so that when she is ready she will have the tools and information available.
Teenagers seem to respond to this show me, don't tell me strategy
