Walking In Front Of The Tv

For the length of at least 1 sitcom a day, instead of sitting on the couch I walk or jog in place in front of the TV. It may not burn a ton of calories, but it is definitely better than being a couch potato!

    I also do something similar - instead of walking in place though I do side-to-side step-touches. I don't allow myself to sit down to watch anything until I have at least 10,000 steps for the day on my pedometer!

    I'll do the wii free step when watching TV. It is a great way to sneak in an extra 3-5,000 steps a day. Sometimes I'll use hand weights while "walking." GOOD TIP!

    I agree AND do the same. I do take it a bit further by NOT allowing myself to watch TV UNLESS I am walking in place or exercising. Keep up the good work. emoticon

    I do my SP strength exercises while watch tv show...stretching is also good here!

    I do various exercises watching TV, it does make the time seem a little faster and a little more productive.

    If I have not made my person goal for the day, I get up and jog/dance/hop, etc. during the commercials. You wouldn't believe the length of some of the commercial breaks and how much exercise you can get.

    I have tried it and it goes so quick that you get to 30 minutes without realizing when you are watching a good movie or show. No more "couch potatoes" emoticon

    I have exercise bands hanging over my treadmill. I work my arms, shoulders and chest while getting my walk/run on! emoticon emoticon

    I do the same thing or at the very least lift weights while I sit and watch TV. I also have a mini-elliptical trainer (one without the handles, just the foot peddles). I usually use the elliptical while I watch TV.

    I have done this, thats how I started moving and walking in the first place.
But even if I am laying down watching TV , I do sit up, leg kicks, a form of Pilate moves. You can be active in so many ways. I also have my resistance bands handy , and some 3 lb weights for a little more workout.

    My Tuesday ritual is to do steps on my Wii fitness balance board with the riser during the 2 hours of The Biggest Loser. Every little bit of exercise helps.

    What a great idea - I usually roll my swedish ball around with my feet/legs while watching tv, not much for something, and try to make myself exercise with the ball during advertisements but I love your idea ! thanks

    I'm another TV walker/watcher! I wear a pedometer at all times and some evenings I do 2+ miles!

    Hey I do this also. Since I have carpeted floors, I walk on one of those gel mats to keep from wearing out the carpet.
