I find that if I don't understand something it does not mean much. Say, for instance, what are the different calorie counts for fats, carbohydrates and protein. Once I understand that fats and carbohydrates contain almost twice the calories as protein, I can make a more educated choice in my foods. Reading helps motivate me also. Knowledge is power! I use the food tracker all day, every day. BEFORE something goes in my mouth, I check the nutritional value. WHILE I am eating I continue the education with portion control. AFTER I eat I enter the carefully weighed & measured values of my meal. I thought I was nutritionally educated, but I'm astounded as to the education I've received by using this tool!!
