When I first started losing weight on spark people, I knew I needed to add exercise. The problem was, I was too over-weight and got out of breath quickly, so I would give up. I decided to turn on some music and just dance around for 5-10 minutes. That got my heart pumping and made me want to do more. Now I can do all sorts of exercises and actually enjoy it. It all started with just a few silly dance steps and some great music.

    I agree, dancing is a great way to motivate a person because it is fun. It is an exercise that you don't have to think about increasing because it happens on it own. The more you dance the more you want to dance. Thank you for the reminder!

    I am slightly disabled, due to a car wreck several years ago. A drunk driver ran a red light & totaled my new car! I had to learn to do everything again---walk, talk, write. But I have gone back to school & got my BA degree---but I've never figured out an exercise that I can do fully---NOW I HAVE, thanks to you!!!!
I am too self-conscious to publicly exercise, workout, or even "walk" on tracks. But this idea is absolutely perfect for me! I can no longer "dance" as I previously did---but I can definitely move around my living room, to my favoritrew music!!!!! Thank you so very much for waking me up to this!!!     Thanks for the encouragement. I too; had to break down my exercise into tiny baby bites. I am slightly disable so there too made it a lot more interesting. It was reading articles like yours that provide so much encouragement..so it's one foot in front of the other; breathe, next thing you know it you conquered the driveway. emoticon

    I continue to dance around my house even though I go to the gym and do all other exercises. I love music, love to move to the beat. Do a lot of Latin dance moves . sorta like my Zumba class.
Good way to start.
Keep up the beat.

    I think dancing saved my workouts too! I so love Zumba that it reinvigorated my resistance training. I would look forward to resistance because I knew the alternate day Zumba was on my calendar! woo hoo!!i

    Ya know, I read through the SparkEmails wirh all their exercise suggestions and sometimes I just get overwhelmed with all the instructions and the huge variety of steps and I just can't decide! But "dancing" along to my favorite tunes is a great way to go. I use the term "dancing" rather loosely - it looks a bit more spastic and uncoordinated compared to those dancing contest shows on the teevee!! emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon
