I am a personal trainer and a weight management consultant, and the biggest problem I run into is when people begin a weight loss effort they start reading and watching everything they can find about it. There is a sea of miss information out there. The crap that you typically see on Dr. Phil or read in cosmopolitan magazine is mostly just that, CRAP! Sparkpeople is a good source of GOOD information! Don't waste your time with the rest.

Too many times I've decided to let proper care of my body go until a major symptom of something gone awry comes up. Reversible problems or not, simply educating one's self on a healthy lifestyle and implementing changes are going to make you a happier, healthier, stronger individual with less time spent at the doctors, in pain, or curing yourself, and more time feeling awesome. Don't wait till it hurts! Just take care of yourself now

Patient advocacy groups on specific illnesses are a good place to start, as is the medline database or the Life Extension Agency.
