Want to take a cheap fittness class and make sure you are committed too going? Sign up at a local community college for a fitness or PE class. Many CC's offer great classes (like yoga two nights a week!) or cardio, or strength training 1-2 nights a week or early in the morning. I paid $56 for two fitness classes at my local CC (cardio strength training and cardio circuit training) taught by expert trainers. 400 minutes a week of personal training time for 18 weeks! Can't beat that!

This is a great tip. I work at a community college and always check on our fitness offerings through our non-credit programs. They are great classes for a reasonable rate. If I wait until 2 days before the class starts, I can take the class for free (as an employee). If I really want to be sure I get in the class, I sign up and pay for it like everyone else.

I am not really a fitness class person and I have some great fitness equipment and videos at home but recently I attended a zumba class and a yoga class free at my local gym. I asked and they were quite happy to let me try three free classes before joining. I have decided not to join right now but it was a great way to try something new and see if it was right for me without the committment and get some exercise as well!104
I take classes in low impact aerobics, water aerobics, Zumba and Qigong. I am taking the classes with other people who are my age. This helps me to continue with the exercises having a suport group who are like me. I also have access to and use the fitness equipment on the days there are no classes.

My husband also goes with me to the exercise classes, it is wonderful for us to spend more time together and we are getting healthier at the same time. We meet new friends who have the same goals that we have.
My gym has both costly registered fitness classes and free drop-in classes. I've found that the drop-in ones are actually MORE motivating! It's often the same core group of people at all the classes, from Aerobics to Zumba, and they'll hold you accountable if you're gone for more than a day or two!
Summer produce is overflowing--and cheap! Whether you grow it or buy it, it's easy to preserve your food so that you can save money and eat better long after the harvest is over.
