I know, I know you're not supposed to weigh yourself daily or even every other day ....but my secret is I do! Yes and my weight goes up and down (alittle). This is a flaw that I've had all my life, it's a habit albeit a bad one. I record my weight twice a week. So that's my dirty little secret, it helps keep me honest and on course.

    great tip ......works for most people and has been given a bad rap ! weekly weighing fluctuates as well ...so it really comes down to common sense .

    I was one of the ones who stayed AWAY from the scale while I was losing weight. But, now that I've reached maintainence I do weigh every day. But I only record my weight once a month when I weigh at the gym.

    I, too, weigh myself every day, right before I get in the shower. The few times I've found myself "forgetting," or avoiding it are also when my weight had crept out of my 3lb range. I undestand that fluctuations happen and I don't let the number on the scale determine my mood for the day. It's just my way of being accountable to me.

    My feelings about weigh ins is to do what works best for YOU because what works for someone else may not work as well for you. Personally, I weigh on my house scale most every morning, but don't track it as it CAN change daily. On Fridays, I weigh at Publix grocery on my way to work, because it's within a half a pound of my doctor's scale. And that's the official weight I post for SparkPeople.

    I don't think weighing every day is a bad habit. In fact, I do it myself. Every morning I hit the toilet and then hit the scale. I have one of those wi-fi scales that automatically records my weight, fat % and BMI. I can then view the results on my iPad. If you understand what is happening to your body and why the daily weight goes up and down, then I don't see a problem. What I look for is the trend line in the graph on my iPad. I wish the software had some type of trending line but I just eyeball it. If I see the trend start to take an upturn, I just dial back my calorie intake by one or two hundred calories for a few days until then trend starts back down. Voila, I'm back on track.

If I've only weigh once a week and I happen to weigh in on one of those days where the weight is up, then I'm discouraged for a whole week. I like to know what is happening with my body every day. My family thinks I'm crazy. Oh well.. whatever works for each of us is what counts.
