When you're craving something that you know isn't on your healthful eating plan, don't deny yourself! It's been proven that just three normal bites of what you are craving can satisfy your craving. You don't have to eat the whole candy bar, piece of pie, cake or dessert.-same goes for any food.

I hadn't heard about the 3 bite rule. I did want some chocolate cake recently so I baked it and gave each of my kids a slice with frosting. I cut me a smaller piece and a thin layer of frosting and I sent the rest with my boyfriend to work.

Cravings - Three bite rule
I joined Weight Watchers over two years ago. I lost 90% of my weight through them and still practice many of their ideas. One I truly love is the Three Bite Rule. When we crave something the first bite is really memorable. The second bite is almost as memorable as the first. The last bite savory and sums up the memory. Therefore all we need are three bites. Not diet is ever broken over three bites.
My Weight Management doctor, told me to have whatever it is I'm craving. (1) Figure out what it is that you're really craving to keep from eating the whole house trying to satisfy it. (2) Have it.. just ONE BITE! (3) Drink a glass, or bottle, of water after your ONE BITE.

Obviously, if the ONE BITE rule is abused, it may affect your weight management results.
Do an experiment. I just read that, after the first three bites of food, our taste buds lose their sensitivity to the food. If that's so, why not just savor those three bites instead of devouring that dessert? Try it, you may save yourself some calories.
