In the beginning dont focus on the big picture. focus on today, or one meal, or one workout. dont worry about the 10, 50, 200 or whatever pounds you have to lose, if you take it one day at a time before you know it weeks will have flown by and you'll be on your way!

I try to swim 3-4 times a week and do 40 lengths at a time without a break. After about 20 lengths I can feel myself flagging, but I break it down and find it helps me to keep going, I tell myself when I get to 20, that I only have 10 lengths left till my count down, then when I get to 30 lengths, I find I count down from 10 to get to my 40, this seems to go much quicker than counting upwards and on that final 1 length I really give it some welly!
