Change your heating and cooling system's filter. If the interior glass surface of your windows gets dirty unusually fast, you may need to change the filters on your furnace or air conditioner. Modern airtight homes trap more dust, pollen, dander, & other particles inside than ever before. Furnace & air-conditioner filters help trap that dirt & also extend the life of your appliances. Filters should be changed every month or two or anytime you canít see light through the filter when you hold it up to a light.
Keep house dust to a minimum (as more dust means more toxins). Mop all surfaces at least once a week. Use a vacuum cleaner (with a HEPA filter, preferably) for your carpets. HEPA-filter vacuums capture the widest range of particles & get rid of allergens.
Get a shower filter (as many of the contaminants in tap water become gases at room temperature). A shower filter can help keep these toxins from becoming airborne. You can get them at Lowe's. They do work. (Con't)
Get a water filter (as more than 700 chemicals have been identified in drinking water). Filtering your tap water is better than drinking bottled water. Have your house checked for carbon monoxide leaks, (found in leaking gas stoves, gas fireplaces, furnaces and chimneys and gas water heaters).
I foolishly put my "Tervis" type (rigid) straw in the dishwasher. When I pulled it out it was no longer straight. To fix it (straighten) the straw back, I put 2 metal kabob skewers inside the straw and ran it back through the dishwasher. The skewers held the straw straight when the plastic was heated up.
