I add pureed beans (northern, chickpeas, etc.) to soups and it adds flavor, thickening, and nutrition.

    When I make guacamole I add some shredded lettuce it. It doesn't change the texture and you get more veggie in your snack!

    Also Flax Meal will thicken soups or any food for that matter and is very good for you. Put some in your oat meal too.

    I made a pot of Cannelli Bean & Roasted Corn Soup this afternoon and just happened to add a can of FAT FREE refried beans to it to thicken it up. The soup came out so nice and creamy.
It was delicious if I say so myself.
