Sometimes when I need to go into another room, I'll do "walking lunges" to get there, or other times, I'll just do a few circuits of them around the house if I'm waiting for dinner to cook or something. Its a little thing (and you might feel silly at first) but its definitely a lot more difficult than just walking around the house or to the other room - it gets the heart rate up and tones the muscles at the same time!

Thank you for the friendly advice! I find lunges hard but if I do them around the house, I am sure the kids will try and copy me and maybe I can finally gt them into exercising!

Thanks for the tip! I'll be doing them while I'm trying to fill in some l spare time while i wait for something else to finish. I do them with dumbells now as a part of my workout, but I never thought of doing them while I wait.

I use my kid's plates too which really helps with portion control. It's a lot closer to what serving sizes should be.

new exercise for me
A person at my fitness club was doing walking lunges on the treadmill. She was in great shape with really toned legs. I asked what else she does for exercise. She stretches, rides her bicycle intermittently, she replied that the walking lunges on the treadmill made a huge difference. You can hold on to the cardio grip or side rails, speed is at .8 - .10.Stated she does 1000 lunges a week!!!OMG. I started Sunday, and did 35 lunges followed by 1 minute of walking for 10 min. Yikes.will update.

Sunday,Thursday and Saturday did the walking lunges. My soreness is almost gone, but feel stronger. Have to have good knees to do this.Will commit to this min.of 2xweek.
Do calisthenics during the commercial breaks when you are watching TV. The idea is to exercise intensely for the length of the break, as one would do in interval training.
